Rachel + Michael’s Rulebreaking Elopement in a Portland City Park

I love anyone who wants to do something a little out of the ordinary.

That’s why, when Michael emailed me about the casual and intimate elopement with a handful of friends and family that he and Rachel were planning with no venue, I grinned from ear to ear. They were going to show up a park near Rachel’s childhood home, hope no one minded as they borrowed a grassy clearing for 20 minutes to exchange vows in front of their nearest and dearest, and head to a bar or restaurant after.

As the plans progressed, and a casual cocktail hour at Bluehour with dinner at 23hoyt was added to the day, I knew this was going to be something special.

Heres to the rulebreakers: you don’t need to rent out an exclusive venue for an entire day, invite 150 people, and throw a blowout party. Sometimes what makes the most sense to you and your partner; something cozy, semi-spontaneous, and loose in planning, is what’s best.

Rachel + Michael’s intimate elopement in a Portland city park goes down as one of my favorite and most memorable weddings. x
